Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Visit

Last weekend while I was on St. Lucia, I was able to visit the Grande Saint Lucian. We stayed at Halcyon, but had the opportunity to tour and have lunch at The Grande Saint Lucian.

Just the name exudes luxury. The Grande. (There was a long discussion by an Ohio based agent about how she called it the Grand-e as in burrito...but that's another story.)

Luxury is exactly what we were looking for when my husband and I chose the Grande for our honeymoon. Thirteen years ago, two young lovebirds walked into a travel agency, sat behind a desk, and had a lady we'd never met before, never saw again, book the most expensive trip either of us had ever taken. My, how the business has changed! And for the better! (More on that later!)

Back to the Grande Saint Lucian. This resort is elegant from the time you step off of the shuttle and into the open air lobby. You'll be greeted with a cool towel scented by the flowers of the island. Ahh, bliss.

The resort is currently oporating at approximately 50% as about half of the rooms at the resort are undergoing a current remodel. Once this stage has been finished this fall, work will begin on other building in the resort. We were there mid-day and did not notice construction noise.

We visited on a Sunday, so the wedding chapel was closed. It doesn't mean I didn't try my best to get you a peek inside!

Imagine stepping out of the wedding chapel and taking 10 steps to the front door of your over water bungalow!

We had lunch at Bayside (the Sandals buffet restaurant) while at the Grande. Right away I noticed that the food area of the buffet was behind glass and air conditioned. While the dining area was open air, the ENTIRE restaurant is open air at Halcyon...the buffet line and all..open air...heat...humidity...birds... The air conditioned buffet line was an immediate upgrade! The Grande also boasts the most restaurants of a Sandals St. Lucia location.

While on resort we had a chance to tour several room categories. The Rondovals may be one of my favorite spots on the resort! Check out the room tour video below and let me know what you think!

I mentioned that the spa was lacking at Sandals Halcyon. That is not the case at the Grande!

A quick tour of the lobby area.

I love that MOST Sandals resorts have areas of the spa that are available to ALL guests without having to book a spa treatment. The Grande is one of these! Check out the plunge pool and saunas below. They are somewhat dated, but I love a good sauna and plunge pool!

Overall, I'm going to rate the Grande a 9/10. This resort is classy and elegant, yet FUN! Relax in a hammock or dance to the DJ at the swim-up bar! It's your day - you choose!
